Tools to unleash your best self

My recommended resources

Welcome to my resource section, a list of equipment, clothes and literature that I strongly recommend for SUP yoga.

I have tested every recommendation on this page and many of them I find crucial to having a good time doing SUP yoga.

Before you digg into these awesome resources that I know and trust, an important disclosure:

Dragonfly 11

I have had the privilage of working with several different kinds of stand up paddleboards in my search for a board that meet my requirements.

When I met the team behind Black Cat Boards it was not just the boards that captured my heart. The innovation and sustainability behind the brand permeates everything they do.

When it comes to my needs as a SUP yogi, the Dragonfly 11 is by far the best board I have worked with, ranging from details such as how the board floats in the water to how it responds to my movements around the board.

As a SUP yogi I don’t just stand on my two feet in the middle of the board, or move back to surf stance as I catch a wave. I need my board to behave like a floating yoga mat, and that is something the Dragonfly 11 provides far beyond expectation. The fact that it works well in smaller waves and as an allround and adventure board is just a major reward.

And yes, Dragonfly is the name of a yin yoga pose. Awesome coincident!

Black Cat all carbon paddle

As a SUP yogi I don’t just use my paddle to paddle. I also include my paddle in my yoga sequences, meaning a lightweight paddle is needed to cause less arm fatigue.

Carbon fiber is the lightest and strongest material used in paddles, and a given choice for me. If I spend a large amount of time on the water on my endurance sessions, same reasons goes for using a lighter paddle. Less arm fatigue.

The surface area of the paddle is another thing important for me. As a SUP yogi I don’t need the extra leverage against the water. I need a smaller surface area – again less strain and stress on my arms.

The Black Cat all carbon paddle is something of a mid-sized paddle which fit my needs to paddle out, practice yoga, and paddle in. Also, I love the colors!

Go Pro Hero5

The only thing better than practicing sup yoga, is capturing yourself doing it.

With great technology presented by GoPro, capturing yourself paddling and practicing yoga on your stand up paddleboard is super easy.

I use some accessories too, like a flotation device to feel safe that the camera won’t sink if I drop it.

TROMBORG – below 10 degrees

If you are anything like me and share the love for the outdoors, this cream is a must. Especially if you live in a country where the temperature goes under 10 degrees, but you still want to paddle and practice sup yoga.

This cream includes exclusive ingredients from microorganisms found in The Arctic Sea, that survive under extreme conditions in the cold. Tromborg has transferred this to scientific skin care.

The results are amazing and I don’t have to worry that my outdoor lifestyle will go hard on my skin.

Ultimate Direction

Regardless of whether I paddle longer or shorter distances, I need to bring some stuff with me.

This vest carries my phone, a whistle, wind jacket, keys, snacks and most of all, water. The vest is originally made for endurance running, but works just as well on the water.

When it is time for yoga, I just place the vest at the nose of the board.

Klean Kanteen Coffee Set

I am constantly amazed by the quality of these bottles, and I always carry a bottle in my bag, on and off the water.

These bottles make sure my water is cold or my coffee and tea is hot. For hours!

I place it in my vest or put it on the nose of my board, and I am all set for my session.

I can’t remember having done a sup yoga session without a hat.

If I teach a sup yoga class I need to make sure I don’t have the sun in my eyes. I need to have clear sight of my students and the surroundings to keep my students safe.

If I am out on a session on my own, I still want to have a good glimpse at the view, keeping the sun out of my face and my hair in place.

Some I have lost to the ocean, so I always make sure to have a few at stock.

Roxy Women’s Caribbean Sunset Fashion Springsuit

By far the best wetsuit for SUP yoga. Given that it’s two-part with the capri pant, it follows your yoga movements with ease. If you get too hot, take your pants off and vice versa if you get too cold.

Very useful if you combine paddling and SUP yoga. Zip up front makes it extremely easy to open and pull down halfway if you’re too hot and want to expose your bikini top.

UPF 50+ Ultraviolet sun protection.

Roxy Women’s Caribbean Sunset Capri Pant

As a SUP yogi you tend to sit a lot on your board and these pants make sure your buttocks does not get too cold!

They belong to the spring suit, but can be used separately with a bikini top or a tank top.

By far the best pants for SUP yoga. So good that you´ll forget that they´re made of neoprene.

UPF 50+ Ultraviolet sun protection.

Roxy Womens Roxy Performance 5/4/3Mm

I love SUP even during wintertime, especially in my home in Spain.

This winter wetsuit has got me covered. It protects me when I fall into the water and keeps me warm when I paddle and catch waves. Best part is that it´s sufficiently smooth for SUP yoga and the hood protects me from the wind.

Definitely extends the season and get me through the winter months.

Makes SUP yoga available all year round!

OK – I admit, this is really not a resource, but who doesn’t like a nice jewelry! And when it also helps saving the turtles….

The ocean gives me a place to work. It also gives me peace, healing and an aquatic community of likeminded friends. And as most of my fellow surfers, stand up paddle boarders and SUP yogis I feel a responsibility to preserve it as best as I can. Therefor I choose to wear jewelry that’s nice to the ocean, and where profit from the jewelry will be donated to sea projects.

Devocean is such a jewelry. 20% of net profit from the jewelry sale will be donated to Sea Turtle Rescue and Ocean Conservation Programs. Devocean jewelry are the perfect reminder that you help save the ea turtles with every purchase!
